On Jan. 17, a man came into the local High’s and robbed the store of the money in the cash register. Senior Andy Lewis was working during the robbery and decided to share his experience with The Scroll.
Describe what happened during and after the altercation.
My co worker and I were getting ready to close the store when all of a sudden this armed malevolent individual makes his way into the store via the door and demanded the legal tender found in our cash registers, or "ol' money boxes". I proceeded to glare menacingly at him while my co worker complied with his aggressive requisition. The whole ordeal lasted less than a minute and ended with him leaving the premises via the same door.
Does High's have any defensive equipment?
We have a baseball bat for use in any close quarters combat that might ensue.
If this happened to you again how would you handle it?
If I don't end up apprehending the individual before he stands a chance, I would consider taking senior Kurt Batterton's advice and "throw a twinkie at him."
Why were you working the late shift?
I was working till 11pm if that’s what you would consider late.
Was anyone else there when it happened?
My trusty co-worker was there at the time of the incident.
Did they catch the criminal?
As a matter of fact they did, a few days after the incident.
Since then have you considered taking self defense classes?
After what I've been through, I might as well be teaching self defense classes.
How scared (if at all) were you when it happened?
I was shaky, but am not familiar with this term "scared" that you use.
