Black and White Dance previewed

The class of 2010 is preparing for the fourth annual Black and White dance, to be held on Saturday Feb. 21, with several changes this year, including a new DJ and new decorations. Last year, black wallpaper lined the bleachers, keeping the theme of the dance focused on more black decorations. This year, the goal is to add more white decorations by having zebra-printed wallpaper.
Class of 2010 executive board member Diana Monkouski said, “The zebra print is really cool; it’s a change the executive board is all hoping people will like.”
There will be zebra balloons in addition to the zebra wallpaper amongst the black balloons CHS has always had. The white lights that light up the dance floor will remain this year as they have in the past.
The biggest change in the Black and White dance will be the new DJ from Full Force Entertainment
Class Advisor of 2010 Matt Fogle said, “We really wanted to try something new and he is also a test run. If the students like him, we may use him for Prom.”
Tickets are $8 and started selling at the beginning of February. Fogle also added that the goal for the number of tickets to sell is 700 in comparisons to the past years’ averages of 600 tickets. Guest passes are also available to those interested in bringing someone from outside of CHS.
Senior Bri Dechant said, “It’s going to be legit,”
Although students are excited for the popular dance, some teachers who have chaperoned in the past are less enthused.
English teacher Jennifer Bruce said, “I went for two years and was disturbed by the acts of tasteless behavior. I was afraid if I stayed longer I wouldn’t be able to look at my students the same way.”
Fogle said in regards to the goals of the dance, “We’re just trying to carry on the tradition, just like the past four years.”
Parental volunteers are still needed to help set up the school event.
